Prince William and George wear matching costumes at soccer game: photos

This is perhaps the cutest case of royal outfit pairing yet! Prince william took his football-loving son Prince George with him to watch the England v Germany match at the European Championships. George looked like his father’s mini-me, wearing the same navy blazer and a red, white, and blue striped tie.

It was a rare outing for 7-year-old George to accompany his parents to a party. He stood between his 39-year-old father and his mother, Duchess Kate (née Middleton), who wore a red double-breasted blazer and a white shirt, in honor of the England team’s colors.

George looked adorable as he sang the UK national anthem ahead of kick off at 5:00 p.m. at Wembley Stadium in London. On their way to their seats, the royal family stopped to greet the legendary English football hero David Beckham and his wife Victoria. The couple are friends with William and Kate, 39, and attended their April 2011 wedding at Westminster Abbey.

The young prince must have enjoyed the front row balcony seats in the family. He got a full view of the action on the pitch. It also helps that his father William is the president of the English Football Association which naturally means they are going to get the best seats in the house besides royalty.

George attended his first professional football game in October 2019, where he was delightfully lively while cheering on his father’s favorite club Aston Villa. Sadly, William, Kate, George and Princess Charlotte had to sit in the back of the stands in the homes section in Norwich City as it was an ‘away’ game for Aston Villa.

This meant that the family was unable to truly take root in their team. But normally shy and reserved, George has been seen clapping and cheering whenever Aston Villa does a good play. He looked so adorable that none of the Norwich City fans around him could blame the little royal’s love for the sport.

Williams later revealed at BBC that he “had a good football weekend,” even though he and Kate did not appear to be showing favoritism towards Aston Villa. “I wasn’t celebrating, that was the problem. I was seated with the local supporters. He kindly added that “George did my part of celebrating for me.”

George wore an England team soccer jersey in his sixth birthday portraits taken by Kate in 2019. The smiling youngster was seen outside the family’s London home, Kensington Palace. While he probably would have been much more comfortable in the jersey cheering on England against Germany, George looked so precious in pairing up with his dad in a matching suit and tie!
