Football game brawl leads to fatal shooting: Texas police
A man has been charged with murder after a dispute at a football game left one dead and another injured, Houston police said.
Julio Noches-Cerna, 46, was arrested in connection with the fight at a restaurant in southwest Houston, police said in a news release.
At around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday November 13, police were called to the restaurant and found two men in critical condition, police said. A houston police tweet said the men were arguing over a football game and it escalated into a shootout.
The restaurant was showing the football game on TV when the men started arguing over the result of the game, KPRC reported.
Restaurant patrons held the suspect at the scene until police arrived, according to the tweet.
Both victims were taken to hospital, police said. Boris Jackson Colindres-Herrera, 34, died of gunshot wounds to the stomach. Gustov Blanda, 40, was also shot in the stomach and was in critical condition.
Noches-Cerna was also injured and was taken to hospital before being arrested, according to the press release.
He is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
