APSU Soccer kicks off preseason against Bethel at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field on Thursday

Clarksville, Tennessee – The first chance to catch the Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s soccer team in action will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, August 12 at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field when the Governors host Bethel for an exhibition game for launch the 2021 season.
The first preseason test for the Govs will be the first collegiate action for the 12 freshmen of fourth-year head coach Naomi Kolarova’s squad. 15 returnees, including Claire Larose and Gybson Roth, join the dozen Austin Peay State University freshmen, who each enjoy an additional year of eligibility provided by the NCAA due to the COVID pandemic. 19.
Goalkeeper duo Chloe Dion and Peyton Powell are also back for APSU governors. After having no college starters last season, the duo have become one of three pairs of Ohio Valley Conference teammates with every double-digit save save during the 2020 season.
On the offensive side, the APSU Govs return each of their three top scorers of the 2020 season, led by Rachel Bradberry, who scored seven points with three goals and an assist. Larose scored six points with a pair of goals and a pair of assists, while Tori Case won the OVC All-Newcomer honors with five points, scoring one goal and handing out three assists, a record for the team.
The OVC announced Monday its order of arrival scheduled for 2021, the governors being ranked seventh. Case was also named to the league’s 2021 preseason list to watch after registering the fifth-best assist per game (0.30 apg) in program history in her debut season.
Thursday’s exhibition against Bethel and Sunday’s exhibition against Middle Tennessee will not air on ESPN +, however, Austin Peay will broadcast all seven home games of the regular season on ESPN +.
Next step for APSU Soccer
Austin Peay State University’s women’s soccer team will prepare for another preseason test when they play a game at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 15, against Middle Tennessee at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field.
After facing the Blue Raiders, the Governors kick off the regular season with a 7:00 p.m. game on Aug. 19 in Western Kentucky. The APSU Govs play their home opener when they host a 7:00 p.m. game on Aug. 27 against Kansas State.
